About Bike Bemidji
Our Mission and Vision
Mission Statement:
Our goal is to promote bicycling in the Bemidji area.
Why?
Our vision is that Bemidji becomes a safe and easy place for everyone to ride bikes, and to grow the idea that Bemidji is a bicycle-friendly town.
Why do that?

- To encourage bicycling culture
- To promote access to physical activity
- To encourage bicycling as transportation
Our areas of influence are...
Safety & Education
- Host or inform residents of bike classes or new bike information
- Alter driver education to have more focus on bikes
- Promote bike education at BSU
- Work with law enforcement on safety information and campaigns
Local Events
- Host Bike Bemidji: Loop the Lake Festival annually
- Have 10% of the Bemidji population attend Loop the Lake
- Showcase other local bike groups, events, or rides
- Ensure all our events are family-friendly
Community Development
- Advocate for better bike infrastructure in Bemidji
- Advise city staff and the council on bicycle issues and projects
- Pursue a Silver Medal Bicycle Friendly Community status
Economic Growth
- Turn Bemidji into a destination biking city
- Promote Bemidji to visitors (bike tourists and others)
- Connect bicyclists to bike-friendly businesses
- Promote Bemidji business through Loop the Lake sponsorship
